Why is it important?

Sexuality is a topic that is frequently neglected in neurorehabilitation. Rehabilitation professionals need to address the sexual rehabilitation needs of individuals with neurological disorders. Within a transdisciplinary approach, sexuality needs must be included in rehabilitation plans and protocols.

Perspectives

As an emerging area of study and practice, neurosexuality provides an opportunity for rehabilitation and other health professionals, students in the health sciences, and researchers to develop their competence and awareness of the importance of sexual neurorehabilitation in persons with neurodisabilities.
