What is it about?
Wireless pulse oximeters are an emerging technology and its use in newborn medicine is scarce. Our study aims to compare a commercial wireless oximeter to a reference wired oximeter to see how accurate it is for heart rate and oxygen saturation data.

Why is it important?
This is the largest study comparing a wireless oximeter to a reference wired oximeter to analyze accuracy for heart rate and oxygen saturation data. As wireless technology continues to improve and is incorporated more into clinical practice, we could see more of its use in the newborn population. Our hope is that our study will spawn further studies to look at this exciting technology and it’s application to our neonatal population. Verification of its accuracy could allow it to be used more on neonatal transports, post delivery transition and resuscitations.
