What is it about?

This overview describes ongoing randomized clinical trials studying interventions to promote, and motivate to engage in, physical activity in people with Parkinson's Disease (PD). It provides insights in the type of interventions, the way of administration (i.e. remote; supervised; unsupervised etc), the included population and the outcomes under study. These studies will inform future studies to use a physical activity promoting intervention to primarily study the effect of physical activity on disease progression and PD symptoms.

Why is it important?

These studies will inform future studies to use a (remote) physical activity promoting interventions to primarily study the effect on disease progression and PD symptoms.

Perspectives

I hope this overview will support other researchers to keep an eye on the upcoming results of these studies to design future studies focused on the effect of physical activity in PD. Also, to underline the upcoming interest of non-pharmacological interventions as physical activity and the potential it bears in the field of Parkinson's Disease. It was a great pleasure writing this article with experts in the field of non-pharmacological interventions in Parkinson's Disease and to contribute in taking this field a step further.
