What is it about?

The diagnostic value of conventional ultrasound guide core-needle biopsy (n=81) and CEUS guide core-needle biopsy (n=97) were retrospective analysised, to investigate the diagnostic value of core-needle biopsy guided by contrast-enhanced ultrasound in cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis (CTL).

Why is it important?

Cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis was reported to be a common extrapulmonary tuberculosis. However, limited attention was focused on the contribution that CEUS-guided CNB made to the diagnosis of CTL. Consequently, the present study was aimed to investigate the role of CEUS-guided CNB played in the diagnosis for CTL.

Perspectives

CEUS is a more advanced guiding method for CTL lesions than traditional US-guided CNB, especially for lesions larger than 2.0 cm.
