Why is it important?

A significant number of liver cancer patients come with late diagnosis. This decrease their chance for cure. That is why we need new markers for earlier diagnosis and follow up of liver cancer patients. Lipocalin-2 is a protein excessively secreted in liver cancer tissue and can play a role in early diagnosis of liver cancer.

Perspectives

This a new step towards better & early diagnosis and follow up of liver cancer patients. The chance of cure & better survival in those patients is greatly depending on early diagnosis and meticulous follow up. Lipocalin-2 offers a good tool for this group of patients.
