Alzheimer's disease is a complex disease characterised by cognitive impairment. Efforts to find effective treatments have not proven to be successful yet, given the lack of reversal of symptoms. This article reviews recent animal studies assessing therapeutic approaches targeting the gut microbiota to treat Alzheimer's disease.
