What is it about?

This article is for classroom educators interested in enhancing their students’ connections with Nature and environmental issues. The author, who has been an artist in schools for more than four decades, shares personal anecdotes and student reflections that present compelling evidence to the efficacy of connecting creative movement exploration with nature and environmental awareness, and demonstrates how Nature-inspired dance provides students with a platform where they learn about themselves, develop new ways to see and interact with the natural world, and create dances where they can articulate their concerns about water, climate, ecosystems, habitats and the future of our planet.
