An important weapon against social injustice and inequality is the ability to see the ways that many institutions are working against us. Marshall McLuhan's work can help us to cultivate these abilities for improving our lives and the lives of others.

Rather than viewing education as merely the acquisition of skills and credentialing, this paper shows how it can be leveraged by anyone to improve their lives and communities.
Perspectives
My hope is that this article demonstrates the importance of education for improving the everyday experiences of individuals across social demographics and experiences. There is no "one size fits all" remedy to social inequality. However, learning how to reconcile our personal experiences with the realities of institutional structures and practices is an important step in socio-political awareness and ultimately, social change.
