Why is it important?
The research illustrates how work at the convergence of literary studies and linguistics may shed light on features of fiction writing that are cross-cultural in nature.
Perspectives
Following accounts of multilingualism as a culturally specific process, the study reveals that authors and their characters frequently employ code switching because forms of usage can be difficult to translate – or at the very least to translate in a way that conveys the meaning those forms have in the original context.
