Why is it important?

René Dirven was the organiser of the first International Cognitive Linguistics Conference (ICLC) in 1989, founded the International Cognitive Linguistics Association (ICLA), launched several book series, initiated various research projects and is known for his many publications in Cognitive Linguistics and multilingualism in Africa.
