What is it about?
Nine collaborating pairs (of English and academic subject teachers) planned 8 lessons that are taught via English-medium instruction(EMI) in an intervention project that was conducted in four Turkish EMI universities.

Why is it important?
Findings showed that this type of interdisciplinary teacher collaboration in universities can be highly effective yielding positive academic subject learning outcomes in universities where academic subjects are taught via English-medium instruction (EMI).
Perspectives
I was the researcher of this intervention project that was carried out in Oxford University Department of Education. I designed the research tool (Collaborative Lesson Planning Tool) for the use of collaborating teachers. The design of the project had a focus on students and academic subject learning outcomes. Universities are sites for academic subject learning, not for improving English language proficiency level, there are languages schools for this purpose!
