Why is it important?

This study is significant in that it is among the few to study variation in literary metaphors. It contributes towards empirical analysis of novel conceptual metaphors in English literary works in India, using CMT. Moreover, it takes an inductive approach, whereby it has first identified all possible linguistic metaphors in the selected works, and then analyzed them to uncover the underlying conceptual metaphors.
