When people translate a literary text, they usually try to imitate the style of the author. However, some translators impose their own style on the author's style.

It 's important because translating literature is not a mechanical process but vital interaction between different cultures, sensibilites, and literary conventions.

Perspectives

When I wrote this article very few studies were done on the relationship between translation and style. Nowadays, this area of study is well established discipline in many universities.
