What is it about?
This study explores how AI tools enhance Sino-Arab cultural exchange through Arabic-Chinese translation. Using surveys and interviews, it examines factors like accuracy, speed, usability, and user trust in AI translators such as ChatGPT and DeepL. Results show strong satisfaction with speed and ease of use but note difficulties with idioms and cultural nuances. While users trust AI for everyday translations, they remain cautious in academic or professional contexts. The study highlights the need to improve AI’s cultural intelligence to better support intercultural understanding.

Why is it important?
This study explores how AI tools enhance Sino-Arab cultural exchange through Arabic-Chinese translation—an area that remains underexplored despite growing cooperation between China and the Arab world. The study’s unique and timely focus on AI’s cultural intelligence highlights its potential to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps, offering new insights for education, diplomacy, and cross-cultural collaboration.
Perspectives
From my personal perspective, this publication reflects my deep interest in how technology can serve as a bridge between cultures rather than a barrier. Working at the intersection of language, culture, and AI, I have witnessed both the immense potential and the subtle challenges of using machine translation in intercultural contexts. This study is not only an academic inquiry but also a call to ensure that technological progress remains human-centered—sensitive to cultural depth and diversity. I believe that by refining AI’s cultural intelligence, we can move closer to a more inclusive and empathetic model of global communication.
