Why is it important?

This article captured a unique moment in history as reported by school-based SLPs, a sector in which teletherapy is least often used and researched as a service modality. The COVID-19 pandemic offered a rare opportunity to identify the strengths and weaknesses of teletherapy previously documented in research, while also witnesses its real world impact during an uncertain time.

Perspectives

This research will inform readers about the real world constraints and promises of teletherapy in an ever-evolving and more tech oriented profession. Especially important is our observation that community investment into teletherapy infrastructure, integrating it into education-based services can have positive outcomes for families of all demographic backgrounds.
