What is it about?

The Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) have unique expertise to offer children with cleft lip and/or palate at different stages of their nutrition and feeding skill development. This paper demonstrates how performing evaluations collaboratively to combine expertise allows for a more holistic and well-rounded approach to a child's feeding and growth.

Why is it important?

Traditional models of healthcare where disciplines function in silos increases patient risk and can impact quality of care. Increasing amounts of evidence have arisen to support the positive impacts of collaboration between professionals.
