What is it about?
The inner ear balance system, known as your vestibular system, is vital to the ability to maintain balance. Noise exposure causes damage to the vestibular system. This damage is present within the vestibular system even though these people do not report symptoms of dizziness.

Why is it important?
The damage found within the vestibular system due to noise exposure can go undetected because the damage does not result in symptoms like dizziness. This damage could eventually lead to imbalance.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also used a novel test to detect the damage in the vestibular system due to noise exposure.
