What is it about?
Sustainable utilization of the tropical rain forests of cross river State. We highlighted the varieties and variability of the species by making a compendium of timber trees and non-timber species. Cross River state is in the Niger delta Area of Nigeria. The Afi mountain Researve and the Cross river National Park, Akamkpa are icons of the forest area. The generally unprotected areas have been under threats of destruction. this research highlights the available resources, the threats to them and how these can be managed.

Why is it important?
The work is a compendium of information on one of the most valued tropical rain forest. It gives an insight into what could be lost if the forest is negatively impacted, and how to avoid this. The authors have resided in these areas for decades, and are knowledgeable about the usage of some of the NTFPs mentioned.
Perspectives
Writing this article with my colleagues has enabled us to interact and created a massive bank of omline information, which international can be utilized. One of the authors was a director in the state forestry department and has served in partnership with the British Overseas Development Agency , in tropical rain forest management.
