What is it about?
STIs are still of public health importance in Cameroon. Their economic and health impact cannot be undermined. Identifying the risk factors especially in a student residential area helps to effectively direct control measures and hence minimize the impact of these diseases.

Why is it important?
Gonorrhoea and Syphilis are common STIs, particularly among the reproductive age group in most developing countries. Their control is important considering the high incidence of acute infections, complications and their socioeconomic impact and a means of effecting control measures against Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Knowledge of the prevalence and risk factors of these infections in a student residential area will enable development of better strategies for STI control.
Perspectives
It was quite a great experience to publish this work. It is not perfect since perfection is not of this world. However, it brings to light some relevant facts about some troubling conditions in the area
