What is it about?
The heat treatment method for modifying wood helps to enhance its dimensional stability and is more environment-friendly when compared to other methods like chemical treatments that is hazardous to the environment. The study focused on the effect of heat treatment on Daniella oliveri Wood at different temperatures and durations on its dimensional stability (absorption and swelling), Moisture content (MC), the weight loss and mechanical properties of wood.

Why is it important?
The work is important as it provides alternative method for adding more value to wood without necessarily causing damage to the product or the environment. The method provides a safe way to improve the dimensional stability and the mechanical properties of wood especially low utilized wood species.
Perspectives
Adoption of this method will not only help to add value to low utilized species but also provide a method that meets all safety regulations of treating wood products.
