Why is it important?

Many people ignore treating bacterial tonsillitis/pharyngitis. If it is treated timely, there will be dramatic decrease in the complication of the infection. The severe complications include acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease. To avoid this deadly complication, simple prevention is required.

Perspectives

School environment is the place where communicable disease like tonsillitis/pharyngitis easily disseminate due to overcrowding and close contacts with oral secretions, as younger students have habits to share their food, candies, etc together. So, it is important to prevent or treat tonsillophayngitis or treat acute rheumatic fever as early as possible to prevent further damage to the heart valves.
