What is it about?

This book is about basic study and introduction to Nanoscience, Nanomaterial and Nanotechnology. Basic rules of nanoscience and Nanotechnology that governs the classification, synthesis, physical properties of nanomaterials are given in detail. How the special features like surface area to volume ration, Quantum confinement and reduced imperfections becomes dominant with reduction in particle size of Nanomaterial, and how these special features of Nanomaterials are responsible for versatile physical and chemical properties are discussed. The tools like electron microscopes, SEM and TEM to study the morphology of nanomaterials are also explained. Various methods for synthesis of Nanomaterials have been discussed in detail.

Why is it important?

This book will helpful as a introductory material for those who start studying nanomaterials, newly.

Perspectives

Since 2013, I have been teaching the topic “Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology” to the U. G. students of B. Sc. III. While preparing the notes for said topic, I start to search the study material from various sources. Time to time, session by session these notes get polished by updating it. It has been decided that these notes should be published as a text book to form basic study material for the students of U. G., P. G., and engineering. The manuscript is framed by following the syllabus for B. Sc. course prescribed by R. T. M. Nagpur University. With assurance, this book will be beneficial for the students while they study regarding the nanomaterials.
