This book is written for the author’s 70th birthday and is a retrospective of his works since 1993 on creation, development, and application of seismic isolation systems in construction of different types of new 1-20 story buildings, as well as strengthening and retrofitting of existing 3-9 story buildings. As the world eminent expert, scientist and engineer the author has an extraordinary capacity in identifying, stating, and solving scientific/engineering problems. His professional skills go beyond theoretical boundaries, and he is notable for this ability to apply and implement the scientific solutions in the practice of earthquake-resistant construction. Most of the books that could be found in the literature on seismic isolation are mainly theoretical.
