What is it about?

Several European studies show that health promotion interventions in the workplace are effective not only in the prevention of occupational disorders and diseases but also in the control of risk factors for the general population. As a result of these findings, an increasing number of organizations are implementing health promotion programs in their workplaces. In this study, we report on the experience of the Italian Umbria Group by describing each of the steps and the outcomes of a health promotion intervention aimed at the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) necessary to reach the status of being a salutogenic workplace.

Why is it important?

It is important because it is a documented case study. One of the first, of course, it is only the first step but it is also a real and concrete case. It is important to underline that the organization decided to restart and renew the approach to health and safety from the "traditional" to the pro-active approach, with the participation of all levels in the organization, with specific responsibilities for all.

Perspectives

The idea is to continue to observe the organization, if necessary to collaborate. In order to document new initiatives. From other experiences like in Bergamo, Siena, Foggia, Venezia, etc... the organizations need time in order to integrate the "MoveEurope-ENWHP" approach.
