What is it about?

The use of of fertilization in the amelioration of acid sulphate soil was attempted. By employing organic fertilizer both amelioration and soil quality improvement were achieved.

Why is it important?

Acidity of coastal soils limit their full usage in the crop production due their low pH. The use of organic (poultry manure and EFB compost) and reduced mineral fertilizer prove them good candidates for acid soil reclamation besides lime.

Perspectives

This research would not only provide knowledge on soil reclamation but also encourage the input of Carbon thus aiding C sequestration.
