What is it about?
Plasmodium attacks the liver at some point in its life cycle in humans,this attack on the liver cell brings about some changes in the liver function enzymes like alkaline phosphatase and transaminases. This work shows that plasmodial infection affects the liver enzymes adversely.

Why is it important?
In tropical regions where malaria is endemic,it is important high parasitamic patients are at a greater risk of liver damage,hence early diagnosis and treatment is important.
