What is it about?
TEC strains are important food-borne pathogens responsible for gastroenteritis with manifestations of crampy abdominal pains, bloody diarrhea and kidney failure especially in children. The organisms evolve and acquire specific virulence factors which enable them to infect and colonize the human colon.

Why is it important?
Findings shows that most drinking water source in Africa are still the traditional ones which include rivers, wells, pond and stream which are prone to contamination. Recreational waters can also be contaminated considering that fingers are prone to fecal contamination. Therefore, there is need for social and medical enlightenment to the dangers of this organism.
Perspectives
During the course of researching for this article have had access to lots of information, meeting and interacting with mothers and health personel.as been able to create awareness on the dangers of the organism especially to the children. And i hope it helps and reach a larger audience
