Why is it important?

Understanding annual and seasonal changes in terms of rainfall regimes and temperature is critical for designing appropriate responses (coping and adaptation) by the pastoral and agropastoral communities in the Kapoeta region of South Sudan. In addition, climate impact mitigation and awareness of the local communities against extreme effects, such as high temperatures and low rainfall amounts by knowing when to graze and plant crops.

Perspectives

It is important to be informed about seasonal patterns to make an informed decision for planting crops, building shelters, grazing, and reducing exposure to high temperatures during hot days in hot months. Therefore, the study provides potential early warning and awareness of local communities on climate hazards.
