What is it about?

Pesticides are applied on crops control attack from insect pests and diseases that reduce production. This study evaluated the types and classification of pesticides farmers apply on tomatoes in the open field and greenhouse farms. Results have shown that farmers applied pyrethroids, carbamates, nicotinoids, organophosphates, and organochlorines on tomatoes, which were mainly WHO class II pesticides that are toxic on tomatoes. There is need for the farmers to adhere to the manufacturers' specifications on the pesticide label in order to minimize negative health effects on human.
