The study employed descriptive research design to investigate the role of Microfinance Banks credits in the development of Small and Medium Enterprises in Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria.

Why is it important?
It is evident from the literature review that some striking issues on the MFBs Sub-sector in Nigeria have not been satisfactorily addressed. These are their contributions in terms employment, production, linkages, financial resource mobilization, intermediation and development, as well as the characteristics of the Sub-sector in terms of size, structure, legal staus and scope. This study filled the gap created in the literature in terms of financial resource mobilization, intermediation and development.
Perspectives
This study is intended to reawaken the minds of the citizens of Nigeria the SMEs Sub-sector is critical for any meaningful economic restructuring programme that targets diversification, employment generation, food security, poverty alleviation and rapid industrialization.
