What is it about?
Salinity is a major problem in the coastal area of Bangladesh. We actually have tried to find out the effect of different mulching on reducing the salinity level and increasing the yield of pumpkin. Mulching paper can hold precipitation, decrease water loss and increase the water use efficiency of crop plants.

Why is it important?
Although some research on using polythene mulch to stop soil erosion and conserve water has been documented, little is known about how mulch affects saline soil management for potential pumpkin production. This work is important because it has been done in salt affected area of Bangladesh. It will be helpful for you to research further on what extent paper mulch can increase yield.
Perspectives
Mulching could be an effective choice for reducing soil salinity and increasing production in coastal areas. Organic mulches can reduce the effect of salt toxicity on plant growth or actively accelerate soil desalinization.
