What is it about?

This paper draws on the results of the New Zealand (NZ) section of a trans-Tasman study exploring the contributions that Nurse Practitioners (NP) make to primary health care (PHC) regardless of the location of their work. The impetus was based upon anecdotal evidence from NPs in both Australia and NZ that identified NPs’ ability to work within a wellness model, regardless of setting. In doing so, they were demonstrating an essential contribution to the health of populations by improving access to care whilst also improving the continuity of that care across acute and community boundaries.
