Why is it important?

There has been a marked increase in the incidence of obesity in children. Obesity is a precursor to developing cardiovascular disease, and is also associated with mental health issues in the young. Measurement of obesity is controversial and this article explores the tools and strategies used to measure overweight and obesity in children.
