What is it about?
We report the presence, in the Mediterranean sea, of a monogenean parasite previously known only from the western side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Why is it important?
The subject of our study. Pseudorhabdosynochus sulamericanus is unique in that it is the single monopisthocotylean monogenean found on both sides of the Atlantic (The Americas and central Afro-Eurasia) on different species of fish.
