What is it about?

This presentation from the Munin Conference on Scholarly Communication in Tromsø, Norway, from November 2015 refers to the strategic goals of setting up an Open Access academic press organisation at Stockholm University Library. The claim here is that the organisation is built to ensure that decisions about publication are made by researchers and for researchers, without commercial interests playing a role. We also claim that the open nature of the press facilitates academic development in general.

Why is it important?

We define our strategy in relation to sociocultural theories about learning, if the assumption is that openness facilitates this.
