What is it about?

Within the framework of a comparative history of linguistics, I examine the description of the particle lâkin(na) made by an Arab grammarian of the 13th century and Ducrot's description of mais. This confrontation brings to light a fundamental similarity in the two approaches and three differences, two significant differences concerns the relationship between logic and argumentation in semantic analysis and the second concerns the theoretical framework proper to each approach.
