What is it about?

The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum was founded in London in 1945 as the General Sikorski Historical Institute. It is now the largest Polish archival and museum institution abroad.

Why is it important?

Using the case study method, several dozen broadcasts available on the Radio Liberty website were analysed, and those referring to preserved museum exhibits and archival collections were selected. Radio journalists interviewed employees of the institution and individuals who had witnessed past events associated with the Institute first-hand. This study dem-onstrates the significant role played by the Polish Institute in the broadcasts of one of the most important media outlets to reach behind the Iron Curtain. Further research is required on the topics discussed in the article.

Perspectives

I hope that the article will recall the largest Polish archival and museum institution abroad.
