What is it about?
This study examined the relationship between maternal employment and exclusive breastfeeding in Peru, using data from the 2023 Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES). The findings showed that 71.7% of mothers practiced exclusive breastfeeding, while employed mothers, particularly those working outside the home, faced greater challenges in maintaining this practice.

Why is it important?
These findings highlight how maternal employment may affect the continuation of exclusive breastfeeding. The study emphasizes the need to strengthen workplace policies and support measures that enable mothers to continue breastfeeding during their children's first six months of life.
Perspectives
I believe this study provides valuable evidence of the challenges working mothers face in maintaining exclusive breastfeeding. I hope these findings contribute to improving working conditions and promoting policies that support maternal and child health in Peru.
