Level of effort and economic dishonesty: Are expectations relevant?

What is it about?

In this research we show that people prefer to be honest if they can choose between options with the same economic value, even if it requires more effort and their decision was not known to others. Likewise, we found that people's economic dishonesty remains low despite the dishonest behavior of others.
