WOMEN’S PERSPECTIVES IN DRUG RECOVERY ON TREATMENT IN A THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY

Featured Image

Why is it important?

In the study, it was evident that for these women, distancing from the family represented the greatest suffering when entering the Therapeutic Community. This situation seems to have a strong influence on the adherence and continuity of established treatment, as well as on the recognition of this therapeutic space as (in) appropriate for drug recovery. At the beginning of treatment, women see the absence of caregivers with sufficient therapeutic resources to distinguish the characteristics of each woman, treating the community without understanding their specificities, leading to situations of social isolation and escape. Some, however, rely on this therapeutic dynamics because they fear forms of repression and violence outside the Therapeutic Community. However, with the advancement of treatment they are victorious in reflecting on their previous harmful experiences and their current condition, but there is still a lack of forms of private affection.

Perspectives

ew approaches can be incorporated into this type of service, prioritizing the active listening of the woman and her family in the reception and construction of the therapeutic project. So that the relationship between caregiver and care is established daily, based on the ethics, respect and autonomy of women.
