What is it about?
mathematical models could be used to estimate evaporation from related meteorological variables like temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, wind speed. As a result, there is a new trend in using data mining techniques such as fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks (ANN) to estimate evaporation.

Why is it important?
The main objective of this study was to investigate the ability of ANN technique to accurately estimate the daily evaporation from humid environments using Batu Dam Reservoir, Selangor, Malaysia as a case study. Also, to compare ANN models with some conventional empirical methods. Meteorological and pan evaporation data were used to develop the ANN models and the output from the ANN models was compared to the output of the selected climate based models
Perspectives
The idea is to develop an accurate evaporation model from reservoirs so that the missing evaporation data in the past can be repaired by the model. Also it could be used to extend evaporation records into the past or the future from other meteorological measurements.
