Class Love and the Unfinished Transformation of Social Hierarchy in Nepali Communist Songs

What is it about?

This article takes a look at the idea of class love in Nepal's early communist songs and some Maoist songs of today, contrasting the different ideologies' approaches to the concept.

Why is it important?

This article addresses a perennial problem in leftist practice: class as the preeminent problem vs identity politics, or the issue of intersectionality. It shows how some Nepali artists have addressed this issue in their songs and music videos.
