Why is it important?

There are some benefits of ASA use in reducing colorectal cancer incidence specially in those with high risk factors for instance those with previous polyps or those with genetic disorders predisposing to this cancer . Meanwhile ASA is not with out harm or risk. It can even cause death by cerebrovascular or gastrointestinal bleeding .

Perspectives

The use of ASA for this purpose should be individualized . It can be recommended in those with risk factors such as previous polyps or those harboring genes predisposing to cancer . For general population the harms and benefits are usually balanced.
