Improve access to and understanding of the information in dictionaries.
What is it about?
How easy is it to get information from the data presented dictionaries? What efforts are required when users consult a dictionary to find the data they are searching for? What efforts are required to understand and interpret the data presented in a dictionary? In other words: How easy or difficult is it for users to understand the data presented?
Why is it important?
This paper explains why dictionary makers and users should distinguish between data and information and shows how dictionary makers should take care when selecting and presenting data in dictionaries.
