What is it about?
Molecular diversity of 30 advanced breeding lines of Jasminum sambac was investigated deloying 15 SSR markers. Genomic DNA was extracted using CATB and amplified. Number of alleles and effective alleles, Shannon’s information index, expected heterozygosity and polymorphic information content (PIC) were analyzed using GenAlEx and POWERMARKER software. Results revealed moderate genetic variability in general whrein, Primer Js079 exhibited the highest diversity.

Why is it important?
Utility of SSRs in genotype differentiation and genetic diversity assessment. Pave way for critical insights for breeding programs tarhgetting flower yield and disease resistance in Jasminum sambac.
Perspectives
Jasminum in general and J. sambac being poorly understood though diverse besides being vegetatevly propgated oepns the opportunity aviable for crop improvement
