Why is it important?
The impact of climate on agriculture is underestimated or taken for granted in the tropics. The study shows that variations in climate is responsible to poor yield and production, this triggers hunger and poverty in Nigeria. This study suggested remediations to climate variability in Nigeria.
Perspectives
Climate determines the type of agriculture practice in Nigeria and most of the tropical countries. Rainfed agriculture is the mainstay and commonest practice in the study area. However, over the years the climate have been shifting unnoticed by the locals. To enhance agricultural productivity there must be a clear knowledge and understanding of the vagaries of climate.
