Why is it important?
In an increasingly globalized internet, ensuring that multilingual websites are accessible to everyone is crucial. This research sheds light on a specific accessibility problem that has been overlooked and offers a starting point for developing more inclusive web practices. The findings are relevant for web developers, content managers, and translators.
Perspectives
We hope this study raises awareness about the importance of multilingual web accessibility. Our goal is to encourage developers and content creators to consider the needs of screen reader users when building and managing websites with content in more than one language. Future research could focus on developing automated testing tools and establishing best practice guidelines.
