Why is it important?

This study is important in showing that EFL learners are lacking in their knowledge on realistic approaches when speaking to someone of higher, equal or lower status. This study indicates that there needs to be more attention given to EFL learners when it comes to social and linguistic knowledge for more appropriate and diverse response.

Perspectives

This particular study has been an eye-opener for me to realize how robotic the teaching methods must be if students are unable to be diverse in their response. Therefore, it has me realizing that we need to do more to focus students on creating conversations that are diverse and fits with the social condition or status of the person they are speaking with. I believe that this study is able to make other EFL tutors figure out how to improve the teaching process.
