What is it about?
testis during intrauterine life develops in the abdomen, they are gradually brought down to scrotum where they finally settle. This process is completed under the hormonal influence and due to a structure called gubernaculum. failure of the proper mechanism gives rise to congenital hernia/hydrocoele and also undescended testis/ectopic testis with various health issues and consequences.

Why is it important?
It is important to know the mechanism involved in testicular descend and to recognise the pathological condition at birth, so as to take corrective action at an earliest.
Perspectives
this publication highlights the mechanism involved in the testicular descend. It is important to understand the mechanism, so as to appreciate the formation of congenital hernia/hydrocoele and also undescended and ectopic testis. once the pathology is understood the planning of treatment becomes more logical.
