Why is it important?
The study is important because it reviews the transtibial tunnel repair technique for meniscus root repairs. This is considered the gold standard procedure. In addition, having 2 tunnels to pull the meniscus down onto the decorticated tibia may provide a more biologically viable means for the meniscus repair to heal back to the tibia.
Perspectives
This is one of the first articles to provide an overview of the different techniques for meniscus root repairs and to provide step-by-step overviews for performing these repairs.
